5/16/14 update

U.S. Economy Continues to Improve 5/9/14

The U.S. economy is poised to accelerate sharply in the second quarter according to the Wall Street Journal’s May survey of economists. The consensus forecast calls for annualized GDP growth of 3.3% during the quarter, up from the 3% pace predicted in last month’s survey. The growth spurt represents a sharp rebound for the U.S. economy which nearly ground to a halt in the first quarter. Continue reading

Cold Weather stalls Q1 GDP Growth 5/2/14

GDP numbers were released on Wednesday for the first quarter and confirmed what we expected…the U.S. economy stalled as harsh winter weather curtailed business investment and weakness overseas hurt exports. U.S. GDP grew at a mere 0.1% pace in the first quarter, compared with a 2.6% in the fourth quarter of 2013. Continue reading
